It occurs to me that I was a tad remiss in my reviews yesterday. Here’s the ingredient list for the Skinfood Black Sugar Cleansing Oil:
Ingredients: Mineral Oil, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Octyldodecanol, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Polysorbate 20, Triethylhexanoin, Water, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Alcohol Denate., Hydrogenated Lecithin, Cholesterol, Ceramide 3, Dimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium PCA, Betaine, Sorbitol, Glycine, Alanine, Proline, Serine, Threonine, Arginine Lysine, Glutamicacid, Disodium EDTA, Sucrose, Fragrance, FD&C Yellow No. 5 (CI 19140), D&C Red No. 33 (CI 17200), FD&C Blue No. 1 (CI 42090)
The link will take you to CosDNA’s website which gives an excellent breakdown of what ingredients could possibly be irritants, acne triggers and so forth. So it’s got one irritant, denatured alcohol, and two acne triggers according to CosDNA, but they aren’t anywhere in the top 10 ingredients that make up the majority of the cleansing oil. For those unfamiliar with the way industry does label packaging, ingredients go from highest to lowest concentration. That way the company is honest with its consumers about what they put into a product, but they aren’t giving away their trade secrets like how much emulsifiers, like octyldodecanol, they use to make the cleansing oil work so well. So the mineral oil is the highest percent (probably by volume) of the prodcuct, with the chemical dye FD&bC blue no 1 as the lowest percentage in the cleansing oil. This is how I knew I could use Skinfood Black Sugar Cleansing Oil for the SF removal technique, mineral oil is listed as the first ingredient and is therefore the highest percentage in the product.
Side note, I wish google’s spell check would include chemistry terms. I am so tired of triple checking my spelling of chemicals only to realize I’m correct according to IUPAC standards, while google hasn’t even heard of IUPAC. (That’s the international board in charge of making sure everyone’s in agreement about what they name their chemicals so shit doesn’t go wrong. But I digress.)
Here’s the ingredient list for Skinfood Black Sugar Scrub Foam:
Sucrose, Water, Sodium lauroyl glutamate, PEG-150, PEG-32, Glycerin , Alcohol, Hydrogenated lecithin, Cholesterol, Ceramide 3, Dimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium PCA, Betaine, Sorbitol, Glycine, Alanine, Proline, Serine, Threonine, Arginine, Lysine, Glutamic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Trehalose, Caramel, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Parfum
I’m not entirely sure why amino acids (glycine, alanine, proline, serine, threonine, arginine, lysine) are included, but CosDNA says they have moisturizing properties. The things you learn while reading lists of chemicals.
